We love the food at Barrio Queen in Downtown Scottsdale, a take on classic Mexican street fare. This is chef/owner Silvana Salcido Esparza’s second restaurant; she opened the acclaimed Barrio Cafe in Phoenix in 2002.
The menu includes tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tortas, and more. Mixing and matching tacos is a great way to try different flavors (there are eighteen of them). The Suadero Azteca is a house specialty, with slow-cooked brisket, diced onions, and cilantro. Before the main course, order the signature Barrio Guacamole, which is made fresh tableside!
Barrio Queen even serves brunch daily. The Molletes are amazing. Toasted bolillo rolls are toped with epozote black beans, avocado, tomato, picked onion, menonita cheese, and chorizo, with potatoes and two eggs on the side.
Don’t forget about the margaritas. Classics are served alongside creations like the Limon y Coco, made with 1800 Coconut Rum, fresh-squeezed lime juice, house-made orgeat, and pineapple juice.
Check out their awesome deals like Margarita Mondays and Taco Tuesdays. They also have daily happy hour from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with discounted drinks, tacos, and appetizers. One taste and you’ll know why they call her the queen!
