The eagerly awaited Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour has finally opened in Downtown Phoenix! A long-time dream of owner/principal bartender Ross Simon, the bar is inside the historic Luhrs Building, built in 1924 as Phoenix’s first high-rise.
Ross is one of the co-founders of Arizona Cocktail Week. He hails from Scotland and has worked in several of London’s top bars. Thankfully he decided to bring his talents to Arizona. Bitter & Twisted features over 60 cocktails, many made with house-infused liquors. Classics are served alongside an array of originals, and the motto here is “Drink Better”. A diagram on the back of the Book O’ Cocktails will inform you whether your drink is “experimental” or “play it safe”, “refreshing” or “to the point” (on the stronger side).
The food menu includes some delicious items like savory Betelnut Pork Belly, Grilled Noble Bread with a house-made braised-carrot butter, and Tsukemen Ramen.
Bitter & Twisted is open Tuesday to Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m, and accepts reservations (even for small parties). They are truly elevating the cocktail scene in Phoenix. One visit and you’ll be back soon to sample more of their unique concoctions.
