The new Craft 64 in Downtown Scottsdale boasts a former Pizzeria Bianco chef, Horacio “Lachos” Hernandez, who spent 17 years working with pizza master Chris Bianco! Chef Hernandez is putting his own spin on pizza. Almost all of their ingredients are locally sourced. Produce is seasonal and fresh from McClendon’s Select Farm, and their 35 beers and most of their wines are from Arizona.
We started with a huge Farmer’s Market Salad with fresh peaches, followed by the FICO Pizza with fresh mozzarella, buratta, parmigiano reggiano, truffle oil, arugula and fig sauce. Their pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven and emerge with a black-blistered crust…you know you are in for a treat! We ended the meal with something sweet, the Nutella Indulgence. It’s made with pizza dough folded in half and stuffed with Nutella and bananas, then drizzled with chocolate sauce and chopped hazelnuts. To die for!
I have already been back and have sent many people there as well. They have a great happy hour with $1 off all local beers, six wines by the glass for at $6 each, and $7 small plates. The very best news is that Craft 64 is half a block from Hotel Valley Ho! You’ll find it on Main Street just west of Goldwater. They’re open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
