I just love to visit new stores that open near the hotel, especially if they sell chocolate! Chocolade van Brugge is a wonderful shop featuring luxury Belgian chocolates. I heard a rumor that they had chocolate croissants and hot chocolate, which are my favorite foods. I got to taste both and they were delicious!
When you first enter the store, you can smell the rich aroma of chocolates. Owners Frederiek and Christine are originally from Bruges, Belgium. They decided to retire from the corporate world and open up a chocolate store. The chocolates are made by a friend in Bruges and shipped fresh. They have at least 60 different chocolates, cookies, and marzipan. If you are looking for a special gift, you can order online and it will be sent to the lucky person. I had a guest who wanted to buy chocolates for her husband for Valentine’s Day and I sent them to Chocolade van Brugge. They were so impressed with the quality that they returned a couple of times to taste different varieties and also sent some home!
The shop has a special event coming up on Saturday, March 8 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., where they are showcasing Belgian waffles. You can see how the waffles are made with their traditional toppings, and enjoy waffles and coffee for $10. Proceeds benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank. Stop by to taste a waffle and enjoy some amazing chocolates!
