Sel is a wonderful new restaurant in Downtown Scottsdale, serving up food that is “global, simple, and delivers a punch”. From the moment you walk in, you know that you are in store for something special. They feature artisan cocktails, a fine wine list and a prix-fixe menu that changes weekly. You can also order a la carte.
Among the dishes we sampled were the Squash Blossom stuffed with morel mushrooms, Tomato Soup with a touch of balsamic and garlic cheese toast, and a salad with peaches, red endive, goat cheese and applewood bacon. Simply delicious.
Our main courses were nothing short of stellar. The Filet Mignon with shallot rings was tender and perfectly cooked, and the Maple Leaf Duck with cipollini onion agradolce was a winning flavor combination. Desserts included a Chocolate Marquis Cake with Grand Marnier and a Marzipan Strawberry Shortcake. Who could ask for anything more?!
Sel is on Main Street just east of Goldwater Road, at 7044 E. Main St. in Downtown Scottsdale. Dinner is served Tuesdays through Saturdays.
