Hike the Apache Wash Trailhead

I recently moved to beautiful Anthem, Arizona and heard about the new Apache Wash Trailhead off of Interstate 17 and Cave Creek Road. I decided to drive through the area instead of on the freeway. If you are traveling north to Sedona or the Grand Canyon, you can take this drive and enjoy the scenery. Exit the 101 Freeway going west at Cave Creek Road and then turn left on Sonoran Desert Drive and follow it 10 miles through the preserve. The road changes to Dove Valley Road, which will lead you to the I-17.

Apache Wash Trailhead

This is the newest addition to the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve. I was so surprised to see such an expanse of untouched desert in the area. The trailhead is equipped with a parking lot, restrooms, ten trails and a space to unload horses. It’s great for people who use wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers as it has paved trails. There’s even a QR code you can scan with your phone to see the trail route. Take a leisurely hike or drive and enjoy the view!
