Looking for a special place to celebrate an anniversary or birthday? Marcellino Ristorante in Downtown Scottsdale is a wonderful Italian restaurant run by Marcellino Verzino and his wife Sima. Marcellino started his career in Rome, where he met Sima, and they later opened restaurants in New York before moving to Scottsdale. He has won numerous awards for his creative cooking and Sima showcases her musical talents on select Thursday nights, singing R&B and jazz. You also can hear local artists on Saturdays.
I had the opportunity to eat at the chef’s island, where I enjoyed a tasting menu from Chef Marcellino. Beautiful Italian dishes paired with a variety of wines. When the weather is lovely, there’s no better spot than one of the restaurant’s charming patios.
I tried the Tortelloni with filet mignon and sautéed vegetables, Spinach Ricotta Ravioli, Osso Buco, Veal Chop prepared in the wood-burning oven, and Mediterranean Sea Bass served piccatta style. It was hard to pick a favorite! I think this quote from Chef Marcellino sums up his philosophy for his restaurant: “It is my honor to have guests embrace and love who I am and what I create for them.”
You’ll find Marcellino Ristorante at 7114 E. Stetson Dr. in Scottsdale. Give them a ring at 480.990.9500.
