Recently I had a chance to revisit an old Valley favorite, the original Aunt Chilada’s Mexican restaurant. It was built on the foundation of the only general store that served the laborers at the Rico Mercury Mine over 100 years ago. The men, dreamy-eyed and intoxicated from inhaling the mercury vapors were said to be returning from the “Dreamy Draw”. After the repeal of prohibition, the land’s owners were granted the first liquor license in Arizona.
