If you are looking for a fun outing with the kids or just feel like being a kid again yourself, you need to visit McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in the heart of Scottsdale! I love this place.
The newest attraction is a 10,000-square-foot building that has model railroads and hands-on activities. You can actually visit it for free. Watching the trains and looking at the meticulously designed villages is a trip back to your childhood and a real imagination trip for the little ones!
There are several old railroad cars you can go inside, including a 1914 dining car that was converted to carry baggage during World War II. It now houses the Scottsdale Railroad Museum.
You can also take a ride on the Paradise and Pacific Railroad or the antique carousel. Enjoy the various shops, spacious playgrounds, or pack a lunch and enjoy it in one of the ramadas.
There is no admission fee to the park, and the rides and exhibits are $2 or less. You can visit any day of the year (weather permitting), except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Have fun!
